Nakasya Prishthamabhi Samvasano Vaishnavim Loka Iha Madayantam

AboutDurgaSuktam
The Durga Suktam is a short Vedic hymn found in the Mahanarayana Upanishad. It is addressed mostly to Agni, the sacred fire, and in its second verse to Durga — and it is one of the earliest places the name Durga appears.
The word durga means “a difficult passage,” and the hymn plays on it again and again: durgāṇi viśvā, “all difficulties.” The image that repeats is a boat carrying us safely across a river. Agni and Durga are asked to ferry the worshipper beyond every danger, wrongdoing and distress.
The second verse is the heart of it: “I take refuge in Goddess Durga, fire-coloured, blazing with tapas, daughter of the sun, who delights in the fruits of action — O swift one who carries across, salutations to you.” The hymn ends with the Durga Gayatri.

FireandtheGoddess
In the Vedas, Agni is the messenger between humans and gods, the one who knows every path (jātavedas). By linking Durga to Agni, the hymn makes her the same kind of guide: a light that knows the way through darkness.
Later tradition built on this, and the Durga Suktam is still chanted in temples before Navaratri worship.
